Working with styles

Styles are a powerful feature of Comic Life: they let you define a standard look for elements across pages. Do you want all your captions to have the same gradient fill or outline stroke? Use a style.

Viewing and selecting styles:

Select an element and tap in the toolbar to display the Inspector. The Style tab displays a sample image of the element in each style that has been defined in this comic. Tapping any of these sample images changes the style of the selected element to match. The sample image for the selected style displays a checkmark.

Modifying a style:

The Options section of the Style tab provides further controls for setting the fill, border and shadow. Many elements also provide their own tab in the Inspector, which provides additional style settings that are particular to that kind of element. Making changes using these tabs changes the selected element. Once an element has had its style settings modified, the sample image for its style displays a pencil icon. Note that certain settings (Bubble Type for balloons, and the Spread, Stagger, and Skew settings for lettering) are not saved as part of a style.

Creating a style:

If you want to save the changes you've made as a new style, so that you can apply it to other elements, tap the button on the Style tab of the Inspector. A sample image for the new style appears in the Inspector.

Updating a style:

If you want to update the style definition to include your changes, tap the button. The sample image for the style is updated to reflect the changes, and all elements using that style are also updated in the comic.

Reverting a style:

If you want to discard your changes and have the selected element match the style definition, tap the button.
